Commercial Port of Vladivostok has launched the Trackmobile (mobile railcar mover) operation to speed up shunting operations with platforms

Commercial Port of Vladivostok (part of the FESCO Transport Group) launched a Trackmobile Hercules operation. It will significantly speed up shunting and rail-wagons sorting at the Port.

Trackmobile Hercules can be operated both on rails and on roads, combining the maneuverability of a car and the power of a full-fledged rail vehicle, it is equipped with rubber wheels for driving on asphalt and steel railway rollers with a gauge of 1,520 mm. The use of Trackmobile will reduce the railway platforms shunting work time by 25% compared with the work of standard diesel locomotives.

The vehicle develops tractive effort enough to move 2,000 tons of towing weight, which corresponds to 20 loaded railway platforms. The consumption of diesel fuel is 8 liters per hour, which is two times less than the similar performance of railway locomotives of the TGM 4B type (17 liters) used at the port.
